9.1 The following shall apply to “open bets” – 

9.1.1 All open bets offered by Firstbet shall be subject to such limits as may be determined by Firstbet if any; 

9.1.2 The limits and conditions applicable to any bet type shall be clearly displayed on the website, in the FirstBet Terms and Conditions or other relevant media of Firstbet.

9.1.3 Dividends are exclusively taken from the official dividend declared by Saftote.

91.4 A dividend can never exceed the Saftote net pool for the relevant market. The Saftote net pool is equal to the gross pool less the Totalizator deductions.

9.1.5 For South African race meetings (meetings hosted at tracks within the borders of South Africa), should there be no Totalizator winning tickets for a certain market (a carryover of the pool), FirstBet will pay a dividend determined by dividing the Saftote pool by the number of winning combinations for the market in question at FirstBet. However, the payout limits per customer for the market in question will apply as disclosed in the FirstBet Terms and Conditions, which may limit the payout allocated to a customer. By way of example, if there are no Pick 6 winning tickets according to Saftote and a net pool of R5,000 is carried over, but there are 5 winning combinations at FirstBet on this market, then the net pool of R5,000 will be divided by 5 and a dividend of R1,000 will be allocated on this market, subject to the payout limits contained in the FirstBet Terms and Conditions.

9.1.6 Where a portion of the Saftote pool is carried over, FirstBet shall allocate the dividend as declared by Saftote. However, this dividend will be limited to the value of the net pool paid out and not the total value of the net pool.

9.1.7 For international race meetings (race meetings held outside of South Africa), if there are no Totalizator winning tickets for a certain market (a carryover of the pool), all bets on that market will be refunded.

9.1.8 If Saftote adds a carryover amount to a certain pool, or in any way incentivises or artificially inflates the size of any pool, the FirstBet dividend will be calculated in terms of the main pool (the pool generated by customer bets on that pool, excluding the carryover amount, or amount seeded into the pool).
